Sorry about the delay

I know that it's been nearly a year...no excuse for that. However, I did have a major accident in March that put me out for almost three months.

On the heels of that, and now that I'm nearly recovered, I've decided to begin to blog again (and the crowd goes wild).

Well, I'll try and think of something creative to write about in a day or so...

Dale, I got a suggestion ...Could you clarify your sermon last week. If Jesus came to fullfill the law then how is it such it is no longer an "eye for an eye". If we are to turn the other cheek so to speak when dealing with adversaries and similar, does this contradict Moses' teaching? Also, does turning the other cheek mean allowing those who oppose you to steam rollo over you without sticking up for yourself. Personally I know the answer is no but I believe clarification may be needed to those not as well versed in the history of biblical teaching.

Thanks for the question/suggestion! Jesus DID come to fulfill the law--the reason that Jesus was teaching on 'turning the other cheek' was to admonish people to love others and not to seek PERSONAL retribution. This allowed justice to be served through the law, while being able to continue to love our enemies.

We aren't supposed to become doormats--allowing people to do things to us without them receiving just punishment (sin must always be punished), but turning the other cheek gives room for the law to be followed (police, courtrooms, etc.), all the while loving those who have wronged us.
If we go further, we'll realize that Jesus went on and encouraged us to forgive (as many times as it takes), to reconcile with each other--Matthew 18:22.

I hope this clears up any confusion with anyone. Thanks for the dialog!
