RETREAT!

I'm leaving for our annual church board/staff retreat tonight. I'm going up a day early to get some time away for next year's sermon planning calendar, and for prayer.

This year's gathering is going to be great. 9 of us are going to spend as much time as possible learning about each other's strengths, and what that means for the leadership of our church. Here's the group: (we're missing Greg Blevens and Ron Espinosa)

Looking back over the short history of FVC, I think one of the things that I wish we could have spent MORE time on prior to launch was leadership development...of course, that's equivalent to trying to build a house while designing it. At some point it becomes counter-productive to continue to swing hammers and use saws, because the structure has no functional foundation.

SO...this is one of those kinds of times. We're going to spend a few hours together, connecting, and dreaming, and planning, and strategizing about faith venture church.

I'm pretty excited...these are events that help to determine history!
